Head unit issue
My current system is more or less dead (missing buttons, cd autochanger in boot doesn't work) so Im after a replacement.
If I just buy a standard head unit with aux input, will it plug straight into the current wires? What else would I need?
The boot cd changer is waterlogged so I will just leave it and use the head unit for CD's.

Re: Head unit issue
As long as you haven't got the JBL amplified setup, a new HU should plug straight in. You'll need to buy a fascia though

Re: Head unit issue
I dont think it has JBL speakers. Its a standard SX model so I doubt it would have.
How do I get the old unit out and will the new unit work with the steering wheel controls?

Re: Head unit issue
Shove some long screwdrivers or something equally long, hard and thin into the two holes on the front until you feel some resistance, then push a bit more and pull the unit out via the tape hole
You'll need Autoleads adapters to get the stalk working with an aftermarket HU

Ive taken standard HU's out before but nothing like this. I'll let you know how I get on!

Re: Head unit issue
Would this work?
Seems a bit too cheap?

Yet this advert seems to imply you need an ISO adapter lead to make it work?

Re: Head unit issue
Ive got it out which was alot easier than I thought and put a temporary one in.
Before I go and buy an aftermarket one, can you get a Peugeot unit that has a tape and cd player?

Re: Head unit issue
Pug did make a CD head unit (no tape slot on it though). However they're very rare and if you can't get one on ebay you'll be looking at about £500+ from a dealer

Re: Head unit issue
Ah well, thanks for your help anyway.
One thing that concerns me is when I put a new HU in, it looks near impossible to put the aerial back in as the lead wont pull through from the back. How on earth do I get my hand in to connect it up with the HU?!
Last question, wheres the cheapest place to get an autolead so I can use the steering wheel controls?

Re: Head unit issue
The aerial lead should pull through to about an inch past the opening... I think it's routed around the passenger side so you may be able to have a fiddle around under the glovebox and see if it's caught on anything
