Installing a multichanger

Post by no2lurch »

i have just bought a 2.2 sri estate and although the head unit has the button to flick between CD's, there is no multi changer in the boot.

what is involved to put one in? is the loom in place already?

Does the headunit have a cassette deck? If so, you more than likely have a loom there. If it is a CD player, you'll have to get a loom along with the changer

Swings and roundabout innit - multichanger means you get sick of the same disks but keep forgetting to change the buggers 'cos they're in the boot and a single slot means having cds everywhere in the front. :?

Sony head unit with Bluetooth + phone with MP3 playback and Bluetooth + large memory card in phone with lots of songs on it = never have to put a CD in the drive ever again

My Blackberry has a 4 GB memory card in it, chock full of my favourite songs. It streams the audio to my Sony head unit.

Or, if you have an iPod (or other MP3 player), my head unit has an Aux In port for connecting a 3.5mm headphone jack to.

Or, if you have a USB memory stick, you can fill it with songs and plug it straight in to the USB port on the head unit.

Makes life so much easier. I have still got a couple of CDs in the glove box, but there is no fishing around or forgetting to change the discs; I have a large music collection in my phone, and I carry it around with me all the time.

As a bonus, my head unit also features Bluetooth hands free speakerphone capability. It will pause playing songs from any audio source (including streaming Bluetooth) when a call is placed or received.

I wouldn't insist on buying a multichanger when there are more practical (and sometimes cheaper) options out there. My head unit only cost me £120 (including fitting) from Halfords.
