If it's the HU with a cassette you could use one of these?
As far as I know there is no aux input on the back of the radio, unless it's the one with the multichanger in which case you could tag onto the inputs

Yeah I've got one of them, not brilliant but it works well enough. I've also tried one of the little FM transmitters that you then tune your radio into, but they're shyte, poor sound quality and subject to interference.

I considered trying to run an AUX in but to be quite frank, on the D9 it scared the poo outa me

This is the way to add AUX and "'GSM/GPS USB Charging" for the Phillips original D8 stereo. The useless mechanics have been removed, the 2 aux connectors are simultaneously selected by TAPE position. The PCB is form an old pc case and charging is avalale through a car phone charger 5v 3A. The functions of the joystick remain intacked.

I've recently upgraded to an iphone (free upgrade) and would like to be able to use the ipod funtionality of the phone through the car stereo

Not got the money at mo to upgrade the stereo unit to something better, plus the associated wiring adapter/s and facia plate ( which i'd need to get colour coded to the rest of the parts already done ) - plus I kinda like having the original unit in there as it's of no value to steal ( as someone who has suffered losing loads of audio equipment in the past )

Can't tell from the pics, but doing the above, would this allow me to plug the usb from my iphone into the stereo?
Got a mate who has an electronics degree, so sure he'd rig it up for me

Actually I think i'll give this a miss as my boss wouldn't pay for the insurance on the new phone thus if I make a mistake, it could be very expensive

It would depend on how much iPlod ( :P ) functionality you wanted, what Max has done there is tap into the tape deck amplifier so when he selects the tape it'll amplify whatever he shoves through it (plus a 5v power supply of course), so you wouldn't be able to do anything other than play through it. Not much chance of blowing things up :cheesy:

Do you have any step-by-step tutorial to achieve this for the Aux input? I would like to do the same on mine.
