but the new ones are easier

You're getting Northern Ireland muddled with Southern Ireland Gary. Your GAZ plate would come from the North. The Southern Irish plate system is much more straightforward than any other I've seen though. You can easily tell at a glance what year the car is & where it was first registered. Great if you know that a certain area is a sh*thole as you can see from the plate if it came from a rough area.

Not by a long shot. South uses Euros & km/h & you have to display your tax, MOT (or NCT which is also only renewed every 2 years I think) & insurance in the corner of the windscreen while the North is technically still part of the UK so still uses the same currency & motoring regulations as we do.

yup down souths a completley different place. Down there the signs say 100 and you think yipeee time to floor it, but then you see the km/h below it and that great feeling dies away.
