Radio bleeping

Post by Blue2 »

I have recently installed a Clarion Radio/CD player in to my 2.0 HDi 406 '52 plate' and it works fine except for this annoying bleeping sound every so often, can anybody help me to get rid of it? ( before it drives me insane) Would be much appreciated

The bleeping is because your stereo is not coded to your car's BSI.

Older 406s, you had to put a code into the stereo, using the buttons on the HU itself. With the later 406s, the stereo needs to be coded to the car. You may need to take it to a dealer to do.

Thanks Highlander, do I have to go to a Peugeot dealer or are there other places that can code it to my BSI. What do they need to be able to code it?

i wouldnt do that just yet mate.

i'm pretty sure an aftermarket stereo does not need to be coded to the BSi.

I think we need clarification on whether its an after market Head unit or just a clarion 406 specific head unit,

so which is it?

if its a clarion from another 406 then yes it will need coding,

if its not and its simply a clarion head unit for any car then no it shouldn't need coding.

my 2 zlotys worth.

I read the original post as though he'd taken the Clarion unit from another 406 (i.e. he had the shitty tape deck and wanted a CD player, so nabbed one from a junked 406 at a scrappy).

:arrowu: Im with you, i took from the post it was an old 406 unit that he had installed, it was the clarion bit that persuaded me, would you choose a clarion as an aftermarket?

Earlier 406s had Philips head units, my old saloon included.

Why oh why oh why were Peugeot still making cars that a tape deck fitted as standard as recently as 2004. Bloody stupid archaic old crap.
