Changing the front speakers

Post by leestudd30 »

They aren't damaged but I've got 2 pairs of new ones that I've had for several years just sat in the garage and thought I'd try them out. I've got a pair of Alpine components, I'm not sure if I can fit the tweeters but would the door speaker be fine on its own? I've also got a set of Pioneer think they are the TSC range 2 ways. With tweeters already in the dash will be I ok to use them?

As long as they're the right size there won't be any problems. Tweeters are only picking up the high range because they have a capacitor fitted to them. Otherwise it's just a basic split speaker output (you can see the extra wires in the plug that goes to the stereo). Your tweeters may be ok to use as well - just pop the existing ones out with a small flat screwdriver. There's actually a surprising amount of room under there for them. Or you could be really adventurous & steel a feed from the rear speakers for the new tweeters to go in the rear.
