Adapter plate/ISO cable

Post by leestudd30 »

Haven't had a chance to look yet but where is the best place to go for the adapter plate so I can fit an aftermarket stereo into my 406? The other question is that the remote lead on the ISO plug with my Pioneer 7200SD looks like its missing something, can I get another ISO lead from somwehere like Halfords?

Halfords do the iso leads and stereo face plate,
but there not cheap mate,

ebay is best option,
the plate is about £18 at halfords,
you can find them on ebay for under £5

Well I attempted to fit my stereo and I'm not happy! After getting the factory one out I took the factory plastic cage out too. The pioneer cage has nothing to grip on so I put it inside the factory cage, put it back and it seemed to fit ok, wasn't poking out too far. But I cannot get the auto leads fascia adapter to fit, its just not wide enough to go around the stereo in the cage, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Secondly, where can I get the speaker wire adapters so I haven't got to cut the wires and fit new terminals to connect aftermarket speakers. Cheers

Hi ... iirc,

you fit the cage first
then fit the aftermarket soround,
there shouid be 8mm or 9mm nuts that hold the face plate in place,

Re: speaker wire adaptors.
you couid use scotch locks and tape up the origianal conectors perhaps,

But am I right to fit the pioneer cage inside the original peugeot one? What are scotch locks? I've googled adapters and theres a link below, which ones should I use?

Re:scotch locks,

see ebay linky,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-Blue-Spli ... 255f6b0972

Yup fit the cage, it will stop the stereo coming loose,
you may have to remove the thin plastic lip part, iremeber having to remove it on mine,
depends on the width of the unit isuppose,

scotch locks will save you having to splice/chop any wires

Thin plastic lip on the factory cage I guess? Looking at scotch locks and I'm just guessing, I would cut the connecters off the factory speakers, run the wire to the scotch lock and then run another wire from the lock to the new speaker?

No,
You dont have to cut any wires /conectors with scotch locks.
you just put the scotch lock next to the wire, put the other wire next to it and crimp it with a pair of pliers,
close the lid on the scotch lock then job done,

hard to explain realy, you wouid have to try one to see what imean

Well I fitted the new alpine components in the doors, not the tweeters though. Didn't need the adapters or to cut wires at all, the new ones actually had the same connecters as the factory ones! Definately sound better too!
