Focal speakers = http://www.focal.com/en/car-audio-sound/

Alpine make very, very good HUs. Mine (CDA-9855) is many years old now and I use an external adapter for iPod but it's pretty perfect. Audio wise, I can adjust just about anything on it using its Bass Engine Pro (timing for each channel, cross overs, custom equalizer and media expander, which I wouldn't live without).

I have no idea if the new HUs still have such features but I am sure you'll be satisfied with it.

Thanks for the link mate,

ispied the amps on there so had to click off very quickly, whay to tempting, bet there not cheap,
iwill just go with the alpine speakers me thinks and perhaps get some of that Dynamat stuff, to stop the door cards rattling,
But its only a picasso so idont want to get too carried away with it,

ALPINE are the best head units out there, no other brand make head units even close

CJ ive just sold my 9855R (with the glide panel not buttons  ) £70 which i sold it very cheap

the old skool ones are better than todays but still todays are better than any other brand.

ive just got a JVC KD G343 . got it for £20 brand new from a local selling site on facebook. pretty good heat unit but no were near as good as my old alpine :cheesy:

lozz you dont need dynamat mate not for door speakers really..

the only thing to watch out for is the doors are hallow. and if you put a 3 way speaker i the door the high notes (treble) makes a weird sound

this is called resonating . were the treble sorta echo's in the hallow door ...

if i was you i would get a componant set for the fronts. this way you will not get resonating because the tweeter goes in the dash and the midrange in the door.

old name for them is mids and tweets . much better option to be honest . i would never put a 3 way speaker in the door 8)

You went from Alpine to JVC? How dare you! £70 is nothing for these units...

I used to have an Alpine CDA-9833R in my first 406, which was an older unit but I believe it to be just that slightly bit better than the CDR-9855R audio quality wise. It was a bit more punchier and precise (both through the same amp) but I am still more than happy with the 9855. Not sure about the glide thing either....

I wish I had to money to get a 9887 but it's still a expensive even now. It has native support for full speed iPod access (KCA-420i is slow when finding songs in a long list) and more audio wizzadry.

ye mate the only reason i sold my alpine and went to JVC was a new D8 .

i only used my alpine for one reason. the 3x 4volt pre outs gold plated to run 2x 4channel amps ..

and its now all been sold i dont wanna mess up my new D8 inside . plus boot space was limited which i hated. having a family of 5 boot space is important

the standards and JVC do me just fine now. im actually suprised how good the standards sound
