No voice on the 'in car' satnav since blowing radio fuse.

Post by impster »

Hi,

blew the fuse on the radio today (the fuse on the radio unit itself, not in the fuse box under the steering wheel), and since replacing it I've lost the voice on the built in sat nav.

Any ideas how to get the voice back????

I didn't even know the sat navs on 406s had a voice  Did you work out why the fuse blew? Maybe that has something to do with it :?

The radio fuse blew when I shorted the cd changer PCB (first attempt at a solder repair on a PCB). The fuse in question is the one directly behind the radio unit - not the one in the fuse box.

Oops. You soldered it all live? It must have sent a spike through the system but perhaps the fact it's coming and going means it's not terminal. I'm wondering if these things can be reset.

The connections between the cd changer and the radio, the sat nav ecu and the display, apart from what looks like power, are all mux :( There's not much in the repair manual, apart from how to configure a new unit using PP.

I'm just wondering if there's a way to reset the sat nav, audio and display systems. There's always the BSI reset hokey-kokey :?

I've come across a thread about a 406 (or 407?) coupe owner with a similar issue - and apparently a BSI reset is what the guy was told to do. not sure if it worked or not.

How easy and risky is doing a BSI reset? Am i at all likely to end up with a duff car that needs plugging in to an enigma machine at Peugeot's HQ to get going again????

I'm wondering if someone with PP2K would be able to help you, check into the system parameters etc.
