Radio Code

Post by puggy »

Mate's got a R reg 406 with coded radio but lost the card with
code on it . Am i right in thinking the code is buried in the
vin number , and if so does anyone know how to work it out ??

Hi mate. Take the last 4 digits of the vin and use the 1234 method.

If last digits are 3651 for example, add a 1 to the 3, 2 to the 6, 3 to the 5, 4 to the 1.

This would be 4885, but as the pug only allows numbers 1 - 6 to be input, you will need to take '6' from any number over 6.

Code would be 4225.

Sounds complicated but really isn't.. 8)

Good luck.

( read this on a 306 forum, seems to work.... :supafrisk: )

Just remembered, I think its the last 4 digits of the radio's serial number - not the VIN.
How did you get on?

Ah that info might come in useful cos I found an old stereo from my D8 in the attic the other day, but have no idea what the code is for it...

I tried the 1,2,3,4 method but got no joy and then I found this forum: http://forum.legija.net/forum.php at 9.00 this morning. By lunchtime, they had the correct code for me. You will need the serial no. stamped on the stereo, and few other bits to get an accurate reply. Look for my posts and you'll see what they need.

No, D9s are coded to the car with PP2000. You can change your stereo with another factory fit unit but will need to get it ' coded ' with PP2000 so the cars ECU will talk to it..!!

Yes, because the factory one is coded to the car already. There are lots of threads on here regarding aftermarket stereos.... 8)
