Hi mate, this hasn't happened to me but if its any consequence, the radio fronts are interchangeable ( only 4 tiny tiny screws )

Find another stereo the same colour and model and simply swap the front over. This way you get to keep your stereo and don't have to worry about getting a replacement one coded to your car.

Ah thats good to know, ive got a couple of aftermarket head units knocking around so im wondering if its worth getting an adapter plate to fit in the standard hole, those standard stereo's seem to fetch good money second hand!

The adapter plates are cheap enough on eBay and quite a good fit.

There are various threads regarding after-market stereos - they pretty much all plug straight in but some have slightly different wiring than others. On my old 52 plate 406, when I fitted a JVC, every-time I used the remote to unlock the car the CD started playing.....

My Parrot starts squaking when you unlock or open a door - seems the switched live supply to the head unit turns on when the BSI 'wakes up', not when you turn the key to acc, as you might expect. This suggests the BSI 'tells' the head unit to power up/down in response to the key position, (which may explain some of the issues people have with after market kit on full-mux cars).

When this has annoyed me enough, I'll find a supply that does turn off with the key, for said Parrot.
