Fitting Headunit to D9 with JBL

Post by cento16v »

Hi guys

I have just bought a d9 saloon with JBL and I want to put a Bluetooth Headunit in.
How do you wire the Phono leads to the speaker wire? As you only have front and rear amp inputs so 2 sets of phone or rca leads? I looked at the guide on the coupe club but it doesn't mention this at all it just shows it pre wired.

Or can you bypass the amp?

I tried to get the radio to work but the radio ECU wasn't behaving, so Millard fitted an aftermarket stereo with no problems at all - some aftermarket ones can play havoc with the wiring....

All I want is someway of using an Aux cable.
My car has sat nav, column stalk and a cd changer and the plug on the rear of the Clarion unit doesn't seem to be the same as the connects unit people have linked to?

But it looks easier than trying to fit a new headunit.

Has anyone bypassed the factory amp?

I fitted a Connects2 unit in my motor, its the later one with the SD card slot and USB input. It doesn't have the Bluetooth facility but I'm not bothered by that.
Here is where I have fitted it temporarily :arrowd:

It works a treat, the sound quality is very good - no background hissing or anything, and you can still use the steering wheel controls too.. :cheesy:

What did it plug into though, the plug on the back of the CD player seems to be one unit with cd changer, nave etcs all in one big connector?

It replaces the blue CD multichanger plug ( it separates from the yellow and green plug ) and there is enough lead to run behind the radio to the ashtray/centre console etc, Bobs your Uncle :cheesy:
