On your list I bought the first one on your Under £50 list. However, for £36and some change, i got one with a rear camera as well. It is very good when it works. It breaks the journey up into 10min segments, and occasionally, I get an "Unable to read data" message from my player in the laptop. To be honest, I don't think I could recommend this one.

Conspicuous by their absence are mini 0803 and mini 0805. Couldn't find any in the UK, and start at about £65.

This place has the 0803, 0805, and (to be launched soon) 0806: http://www.carcamerashop.co.uk/mini-0805.html

They're not in your price brackets though!

I've just purchased an A118C - will post some sample video when it turns up.

The Mini 0803 is a great dash cam purely because of its compact dimensions, it sits up behind the passenger mirror and from the drivers seat i cant see it, from the outside its very inconspicuous, a lot of other dash cams especially ones that use a suction mount seem to take a lot of space on the windscreen and my attract thieves who might think its a sat nav. Although a suction mount may be good if the camera is to move between cars.

The 0803 and 0805 are priecy but the mini 720p dashcams that are the same basic shape as the 0803 but wihtout the display are still good for their price.

My 0801 fell off again, damn sun :( It was fine all winter but the sticky just can't handle the sun shining on it. I really don't want to glue it on but I think it might come to that.

Excellent pictures especially compared to most of the Russian videos. Could you do us another one involving an accident.

What about using some black glazing silicone sealant? it'll remain slightly flexible but can be cheese-wired off and the surplus scraped away if need be.

I'd rather not :!: But yes, I've been rather impressed with the quality. I'll pull a random daytime one off the cam when I remember :D

I can't make out the registration number on the Zafira at 0:25 or on that thing that was front when it stops at the lights at 0:56, and that's watching in HD on a HD desktop monitor. Can anyone else? Or am I missing the point?

The number plates look blurred-out or they're just 'bright' and the cam can't pick up the lettering. Good point though as it's an important factor at night (being able to capture plates) maybe the rain didn't help matters.

Agreed, it's not fantastic. It was quite a cheap one though. It's not great at being able to read reg plates except in bright clear conditions.

The mini 0805 and 0806 seem to be even better but are a bit more expensive.
