Lcd screen replacement

Post by BIGDAN »

If I replaced my screen with another from a car that didn't have satnav etc would it still work?

Yes, the Sat-Nav screen has 2 trip computers and a nicer display - the non Sat-Nav has only 1 trip computer and a more basic display.

Its a straight swap though, and replacement bulbs for a non Sat-Nav screen are about £1 for 10 on tinterweb.

Yes, its a perfect fit.

It takes a bit to get used too, but at least you'll be able to read the display.

Please don't bin the old Sat-Nav screen, I'm after a spare.... :cheesy:

I'm not sure it's tge correct screen as I have 2 plugs behind my screen and only one plugs in to it

I'm guessing the satnav won't work on the other screen tho?

There are often 2 plugs behind the display, I'm not sure why but the same one is used for both types of display screen.

You will lose the Sat-Nav function on the non-Sat-Nav screen - buy a Tom-Tom instead... 8)

I swapped a sat nav for a non sat nav screen and I lost the remote radio function from the stalk for some reason.

As far as I'm aware, if you swap a MFD from a semi-mux car into a mux car, or vice-versa, then an option in the displays ECU needs changing so it can pick up the right signal. Very easy to do if you have PP2000.

Ah, so maybe aim for a replacement display from a car from the same year, give or take..

I have had no issues with screen swappage, but all my 406s have been 2002 or newer ( fully mux )

Did we ever work out what the other plug was for behind the MFD ??

Ah that would make sense then as the display i used was from a semi-mux car and i put it in mux one.It made no difference as i was selling the car on so i removed the radio stalk from the column comms unit so the chap i sold the car to didn't know any difference

My car lcd display part no is 9641902577 A00 and found a replacement part with same no but R00 instead of A00. Will it be compatible with my car?

Are you sure that "R00" is not a misspelled "A00"? misspelled by Chinese who cannot read our alphabet, or by a crappy OCR software? "A" and "R" look alike :cheesy:

googling "9641902577 A00" gives a long list of results, but googling "9641902577 R00" gives none ...
