CD Not working (Plus couple of other minor things)

Post by RobMorris »

Hey

I have 2 issues with my JBL set up.

The main one is that my CDs wont play?

I put my CDs into the Clarion CD Change in the boot. It accepted the cartridge and I could hear it working.

But going back to the standard Clarion HU - pushing the button option for CD does nothing? The Radio works fine?

What can i do?

The 2nd thing is it sounds like 1 or more of the front speakers (maybe passenger side) turn off and then slowly come back in again during play/driving?
And 3rd is on initial start of the car the speakers pop?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi! For the first issue, did the CD changer ever played? ( You might have to configure the radio in BSI or it's dead ).

2nd issue, don't know the probably cause, not giving my feedback on this one.

3rd issue is probably due to radio blown outputs ... this can also mean your 2nd issue that you think you hear the speakers failing.

This is my guesses.

Good luck

As RayneR mentioned, the radio needs to be programmed to let it know there's a CD-changer present. If you've had the radio changed or the cd-changer retrofitted it is possible this setting is not correct. It can be fixed by PP2000. What does the display say when you press the cd-changer button (not cd), and subsequently press the numbered buttons 1-6? Do normal CDs work (or is it the cassette version?)?

With the speakers coming back on - is this independent of speed (i.e. only dependent on time)?

If you don't get your issues sorted Nico den Haak, as he does radio repair for a living and has specialised quite a bit on the 406 radios. I think he scans this forum as well, but otherwise you'll certainly find him on the coupe-forum.
