Connectors for Older Car Radios & Stereos

Post by trufflehunt »

I've discovered that rather a lot of tech stuff from, for example, the 1980's now seems to have become quite 'retro cool'.

For example, a Nikon L35AF 35mm point and shoot camera. I paid £100 for mine in 1983.
About five years ago, doing a clear out of several film cameras, and a single lens reflex (SLR) ,
I put a couple up on eBay with starting prices of 99p. No one even bid on that Nikon. Not a sniff.

Anyway, recently, I just checked again on eBay, and found that typically they were fetching £50 - £70.
So I think I'll be taking some action on that.

I've also recently dug out this......

This cost me a fortune back in the late 80's/early '90's. And like the camera, a few years ago no one was interested.
Now they seem to be worth a couple of hundred ££'s.

Anyway , I intend to wire it up, and check everything still works OK.
Here's a photo of the back panel. The 4 connectors in a row along the bottom are the sockets for the 4 speakers.
Do you recognise them, I remember the plugs for them as little square block type things.
But I can't remember the technical name for this type of plug.

Anyone ?

I recognise those from the back of my old Bang and Olufsen from moons ago....
Grey colour connector with the top spade exposed iirc.

No idea what they were called, sorry.
