Does the stock clarion tape/cd combo use a code?

hi,

was thinking about disconnecting the battery for half an hour to try and clear any codes the ecu has stored up but i wasnt given a code for the stock clarion tape/cd combo unit - does it have one? and if i dont have it how can i get it????

If your car is a D9 (1999 onwards) then the radio is kind of 'logged' to the car via the BSi unit and does not have a code to input as such.

You will not be able to use the radio in another 406 wthout having it 'coded' to the car.

Disconnecting the battery will not effect the radio as it is.

My 98 D8 saloon needs a code. Strangely though, my 99 D8 JBL'd coupe does not (though admittedly they are different OEM head units).

I would have thought Peugeot could supply you with the head unit code, though doubtless they would want £20 for the priveledge.

Disconnecting the ECU for half an hour won't clear any codes. You need to do this via the OBD port

If you're on about a D9 you'll have to take it to a dealer for re-coding. It's not something you can DIY.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
