D8/D9 is the radio fit the same?

Sorry if I'm being docile here...

Is the radio slot in the centre console that went in the 406 the same over the model run?

I'm going ahead with fitting a new head unit in the new year to integrate the ipod touch I'll be getting this xmas, and the obvious starting point is the hole in the dash that removing the existing Cr*pion head unit. Is it the same radio fit in the centre console through all model years, or did the D8 have a different shape head unit from the D9?

The reason is on fleabay there are plenty of facia adaptors, but some seem to either be the wrong way round (for fitting in the top of the centre console) or the right way up for a bottom fit like mine, but the sides seem to be of the wrong angle for the console. Though both quote the same Autoleads part number. Most confusing, but I'd like to be certain before ordering.

The shape is the same and my Autoleads fascia adaptor has fit in D8s and my D9.

A D9 head unit won't work in a D8 or vice-versa due to the electrical differences

Thanks, its a Sony unit I have my eye on so I can still use the stalk remote, and the display for radio display etc.

No. You can use the stalk with a pair of autoleads adaptors (total about £50)

Its the Connects2 setup you need to still work the remote and display, and you can only use sony head units for this.

What Sony head unit are you getting, I have Mex-2500, but from I can gather it wont work with stalk or display.
