205 2.2 HDI
I was on youtube looking at some 205 GTIs then i seen one which was a 205 which got the 406s 2.2 engine and this was remaped to over 200bhp i think. How much work would be involved in doing that and would it not upset the whole handling of the 205, i even remember my old diesel it was not the fastest car in the world but great fun to drive

Re: 205 2.2 HDI
I'm sure a 2.2 hdi would upset the handling a bit. The heaviest engine the 205 probably had was the 1.9 d-turbo, i would reckon the 2.2 hdi would weigh a fair bit more and make it very nose heavy. However I'm sure things like the a/c pump would have been left off which would shed some of the weight. If you search about you should find a 205 with the 3.0 v6 coupe engine, if that can be done then maybe a 2.2 hdi isn't the biggest of jobs for someone who knows what they're doing. I've noticed that around my part of Northern Ireland, d-turbo 205's are becoming more common as people have caught on that they can be tuned to go quicker than the GTI for alot less money406executiveHDI wrote:I was on youtube looking at some 205 GTIs then i seen one which was a 205 which got the 406s 2.2 engine and this was remaped to over 200bhp i think. Out the sticks in NI 306 d-turbos seem to be the replacement once they've wrapped their 1 litre Vauxhall Corsas round a tree.
"Screwed" to hell, reekin black smoke any time they accelerate and lower "til da deck hi". Usually with sunstrips proclaiming "Suckin' Diesel!" or my favourite - "No smoke No poke!"

Haha, yes this is my part of NI. We refer to these articles as being 'Felt (Magherafelt) spec'. I was told the other evening that my 406 is a farmers car as it is not 'decked'. What amazes me is that the idea behind modifying is to try and improve the car over what the manufacturer has done. Generally a few short months on country roads has these cars absolutely knackered due to their stupidly low, unsprung ride heights, thats if the screwed turbo and fuel pump havnt already wrecked themselves. I sold my almost immaculate 405 d-turbo to one of these idiots, saw it a few months later and it was falling to pieces. Fuel pump and turbo had been screwed beyond belief, front springs had been cut and the rear was on the ground. It nearly brought tears to my eyessirwiggum wrote:Out the sticks in NI 306 d-turbos seem to be the replacement once they've wrapped their 1 litre Vauxhall Corsas round a tree.

Wish the cops would do more to get these cars off the roads.

I've got a funny feeling the HDi unit weighs a bit less than the old skool XUD because of the Aluminium head etc. I don't think it will be a problem in a 205 as long as you had good engine mounts and sussy bushes etc.

Is the HDi not basically an XUD with a fuel injected 16 valve head and extra electricals?

Re: 205 2.2 HDI
DW12's got balancer shafts in the sump, bigger flywheel & clutch, 16V head, variable geometry turbo and a lot more ancillaries, so I guess it would be heavier overall.
If you want to improve one, strapping on a 205 isn't the way to go, IMHO.

Re: 205 2.2 HDI
there is a big problem here in northern ireland with the ex vauxhaull astra/corsa drivers buying and completly ruining 306 d turbos, round here the dump valve is too common a noise, and the roads definatley wreck the lowered cars
