problems with 406 1.8lx
can anybody offer me some advice about my `98 406 1.8lx which seems to have a problem with the heater. It doesn`t get that warm in the car even with dial fully on the red, and seems worse when the fan is operated. Is this an inherent problem with the car or could there be a fault?

Welcome in mate!
First off have you checked your coolant level? Also could be air in the system.

Following on from Steve's post what is the engine temperature when the car is warmed up?

the engine temperature reaches just below the 70 mark normally, although gets a little higher whilst stationary (idling) when some heat inside comes through. I have checked coolant level-seems ok, but not sure how to bleed air out of system if this is the case? how do i free thermostat or do you have to replace it?teamster1975 wrote:Following on from Steve's post what is the engine temperature when the car is warmed up?
Have to wear warm clothes and gloves in it recently

70 degrees is crap, the thermostat is your problem. You'll need to replace it 'cos once they're knackered they're beyond hope.
