Is the a restarting procedure after connecting the battery?

Quick quation...

After connecting the battery according to the set procedure of putting the headlights on through the open window, is there a set procedure to go through to 're teach' the ecu?
Past car - D9 2.2 SRi estate, sleeper, family wagon & general hauler!
Current car - Ph3 1.8 306

connect the battery and fire it up, cant see that being a problem

I'm sure someone mentioned a way of driving it, no idea where to look though. Might not even be this forum...

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

i just plonk the battery back in, never has give me any trouble with this technique.

It sounds like he's referring to the BSI reset procedure

its an awful process, why not have a reset button instead.

for BMW motorcycle before you turn on engine, you should open GAS slowly 2 times.
In such a way the ECY can learn the value of the trottle positioning sensor (TPS)
My 406 2.2 HDI has similar sensor, it might be reasonable to push gas before engine start - to have ECU learning min and max value og TPS. Obviously everyting depends on ECU model..
