Crack in sump

Post by FarmerPug »

I seen a bit of a crack at the bit where the sump meets the engine on my suzukis new engine, it doesnt go across the sump just a bit on the corner, i think it happened when i put the starter in and the hammer may have banged this part. there would still be good contact even if the chipped bit was removed but will it make a difference, should i try and weld it or just put more sealant there?

You could probably get away with chemical metal on that FarmerP.
I've changed your topic title because "cracks" on the internet can imply many things!

Thanks I've looked about the chemical stuff It sounds good but its important to know the crack is more like a chip in the corner of the engine imagine the corner this chip is on the corner on the outside of the engin there's still about 5mm of intact thickness metal at the bottom. Is there much pressure generally in the sump this is at the top of the sump hill ie the pickup tube picks up from the other side.
