
engine management light

engine management light
can anyone help e/m/light on a 406 1.9td 1998 comes on when the car ticks over then goes off when you hit 1500rpm and above .im a bit boggled by this any advice would de greatly appreciated.

whens the last time the car had a good service ?
oil changes , all filters especially the fuel filter ?

thanks for your reply. the cars just had a fuel pump fitted and a new thermostat had problems prior to this reguarding e/m/light that problems gone .all filters changed apart from oil.how ever fuel filter was changed prior to pump being refitted could this have anything to do with it ?

I have experienced the opposite problem with my bro's 1.9TD estate, where it was mostly OK except when pulling hard. In these circumstanced the light would come on. In his case, it was an injection timing error reported by the ecu. Cured, (as Gary suggested), by changing the fuel filter and cleaning the in-tank strainer. (Accessed from under the back seat).
