Err, it's diesel particulate filter. In France they call 'em filtre à particules or FAP for short.

Good to know there is an option not to have the DPF, I didn't know about that option.
I maintain a large fleet of Nissan/Renault vans that have DPFs, they each take 8 litres of the special oil at £30 for 5 litres.
BTW, wish me luck for tomorrow, I'm going to replace the DMF and clutch in the 407
