LPG kits have come on quite a lot in recent years. The one in my dads car is a mutipoint system controlled in the same way as fuel injection is with its own ECU, its much more efficent than single point injection systems. There is no smell out the exhaust which is true, apparently it only emits water (which i suspect could be bullshit). But a man i knew who owned a jeep cherokee 4.0 had it on LPG and it was De Catted. In the Mot test he would switch over to LPG and it passed, whereas if he was on petrol it would fail. So obviously the emissions are much much lower on LPG.
The man that does the kits said 2 cars came to him more than often. The Dodge Ram, and the Scooby.

The kit im looking at is third gen and fully mapable and if i get get a mapable piggyback ecu il be able to get it fueling properly. obviously the cooling will need looking at with a larger intercooler and a spray bar a must. But the lad i knew with the Nissan 200sx just had an Apexi power FC ecu and the LPG to suit 300BHP.
I used to work on police Sprinters with some sort of LPG system, 1st gen i think? we took it off them as two of them burnt the engine bays out  They ran veeeeerrry hot, it was basicly just a gas pipe stuck into the inlet manifold
But these newer kits are sequential via solonoid. Good stuff
I know LPG is pushing 75p per litre but i think its still going to be about half that of petrol, the rise seems relative.

The price of lpg will still be a good amount lower. And if you can manage to do it you should be able to run them on cow poo, ie methane.
