For the life of me I can't get my new stereo in, I'm utterly frustrated and on the verge of frenzy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off the stupid lead to make stalk work is pointless, doesn't work at all so will remove stalk. This is a rather moot point anyway as I can't fit the stereo in, not enough room with all the bloomin cables!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't panic, there is a solution. Lift up your ashtray to remove it, undo the torx screws that hold the side panel in & remove it. Once that is out of the way you have access to the space behind the stereo to slowly pull the wiring back to allow the stereo to fit in. It's still tight, but much easier once you have that side piece out & can see the space behind.

As far as the stalk controls go, they can be a bit temperamental - I had to turn the plug in the back of the stereo a little bit at a time until the stalk was actually doing what it was supposed to.

Thanks that sounds promising. Iv'e decidided to halt for today and begin again tomorrow in daylight.

I will try turning the remote lead, failing that I will ditch the stalk and the wiring harness I have for one without the remote connectors, saving some more room.

waue is right thats how i did mine
there is a way mate trust me

i have 3 rca cables the iso for power and a 2nd iso for the front components all behind there

i did what waue said from the passangers side. you can gently pull the wires into the little squre gap in the corner

anotherway is get an air cut with plastic cutting tool on the end and cut out that stupid plastis thats in the way smack bang in the center
that peice fkin annoys the living shits out of me sumtimes.

stalk - scrap it. its just as easy reaching to the stereo in my opinion

I see no torx screws to remove ashtray

They're under the ashtray. Ashtray removal is simply a case of lifting it out - the whole black piece from the gearstick to the front of the centre console. The torx screws for those side pieces are underneath that piece.

They're at the side & a bit of a pain to get to. I used a ratchet with torx bits. If you have a look here:

If you look at the 3rd picture down it'll show you where the torx screws are.

Basically there were no torx screws, missing for some reason. Anyway all done finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now just gonna put it over the pit to find the cause of the knocking noise...
