The name for them here is Voltaren, they just made them prescription only

Adrenalin is why you didn't feel it, Parakeetamol do nothing for me whatsoever, I've only even found Asperin good for toothache. You could try if they still do Cocdomol 500mg without a prescription, the dissolving version is what I used to pop to overdose (to no effect I might add) for my migraines.

Ouch! had a cracked rib a couple of times, its not funny.

Anyway, a couple of years ago, I was having serious grief with a root canal problem. Dentist offered to 'open the surgery' on Saturday morning for a 'minimum of £210'. It hurt that much, I seriously considered it.

After a minute or two, he told me to take the max amout of paracetamol and also take 2 codiene every 4 hours, stating, 'it won't work straight away, but once you get a high enough level in your bloodstream it makes a difference'.

As I'm a tight-fisted sod, I gave it a try - wasn't perfect, but worked much better than I would have believed. HTH.

I once broke 3 ribs taking the engine and box out of an Austin Maxi....many years ago now.

Also broke ribs at a football match in the old days of terracing, I turned round to talk to my brother when my team scored and got thrown against the crush barrier by the surge.

Doctors don't like prescribing diclofenac nowadays, only naproxin which doesn't work too well with me. You can buy weak diclofenac (Voltarol brand) over-the-counter from chemists, but it's only 7mg as opposed to the 30mg you could get from doctors.
You could try if they still do Cocdomol 500mg without a prescription, the dissolving version is what I used to pop to overdose (to no effect I might add) for my migraines.
That's one hell of a dose Steve!!!

I used to be on co-codamol 30/500 (30mg codeine, 500mg paracetamol) but they've stopped doing that on the NHS. All I can get is 30/500 now. You can buy 12/500 over-the-counter from chemists. The reason for the paracetamol is apparently so your liver gives up the ghost before you take too much codeine... Bastards.

They sound ideal to me :cheesy:

Oh yes, but when I have a migraine I'll do anything to get rid of it. I used to do the overdose factor - "now, I've had 1500mg of those, so I can have another 500mg of those and another 1000mg of that..." The daft thing is my family (who are all sufferers) said there was nothing could be done about it, but when I came here my Mrs said it wasn't good enough and dragged me off for a load of tests and I actually get pills prescribed for it now - Zomig, which are made by Smithglax Bleachkline Whateveritisthisweek, in England
