Went in for 1 tyre on the 406, ended up needing 4, "oddball size" quoted over £200

Re: anyone need tyres ?
£200 would be ok for pirellis or michelin.
I Have a pair of new pirellis on the front, they were good in the snow, have great grip and only cost £120 which included balancing and wheel alignment.

Re: anyone need tyres ?
heh their cheapest 215/55/16W is £53 for "LingLong". I think I'd rather slap a ring of black plasticine on my wheels than use a brand like that. Probably grip better and be less noisy...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: anyone need tyres ?
53 quid is fairly normal price wise but it needs 10 quid on top for fitting.
my local tyre place quoted 60 quid fitted for a pirelli p6 sommat tyre.

Re: anyone need tyres ?
over £50 a corner for "cheapies" in an "oddball size".
This was at Modern Tyre Service, Duncrue Street.
Best place for tyres used to be Philip Whytes just opposite Shorts on Airport Road. No nonsense, would try and repair a puncture on a good tyre for £6 and good priced tyres, no "oddball" talk or needing 4 for the sake of it.
Unfortunately gone now.
