ah ha theres a lot of shite on ebay.

but perhaps number plates that cant be used on the car there can be a number of uses.
- 2 mop sticks and mount them on the end, you have some ores.
- put them behind your normal plates to reinforce them
- mount it again on the end of a stick, and this time mount it in such a way that it can rotate, hey presto a wind vane.
- heat them up a bit and melt them into dinner plates
so the £20 wasted isnt just as bad.

That's grounds for a dispute - "item not as described". Also, if they are operating as a business, I'm sure the DVLA/VOSA/Trading Standards may want to hear about them.

If they've stated them as legal, AND they're not, then surely, "They aren't as described"
Thus surely you should message the seller with this information, and politely ask for a refund
If that get's you nowhere, then escalate to a claim

in a non drowsy state i would suggest what the others are now saying as opposed to my crazy ideas, they are still viable if the seller didnt mention them being legal. But if he said they were ok for your car on the road then pester the seller until they give a refund.

Unless the laws have changed, carbon look is perfectly legal aslong as the type face is the legal size and font, and also as long as the maker has put their postcode/mark on the bottom of the plate.

Basically most coppers think they know the law, but most don't. I've had countless arguments with coppers who think they're above their station and have almost always come out on top. I also think he's wrong with regards to the badges as I'm pretty sure you can only have a GB or Euro badge legally over here.

Best bet would be to look up the exact laws on DVLA or VOSA and see what the deal is.

its just the Area where ilive mate,
theres loads of people driving about up here where they fasten the seat belts before getting in the car and just sit on top of the belt,
then theres the few that drive about with 6 kids in the car and 4 in the boot none strapped in,etc,

so the Rozzers will be keep an eye out on all cars ,

Any time I've driven a GB car in NI, I put the MOT sticker up as an alternative to the MOT disc.

When they first brought out the legislation, I had an NI car but was a student in GB, so put the GB MOT sticker (without peeling off the sticky bit) the other way round in a tax disc holder, so it was visible that the car was MOTd and when to.

Is carbon that gray/black colour of font? If it is the standard font I don't see what their issue is.

Get away with more over here. Even dealer chains and haulage companies use the special bold "metro" font!
I get my plates from fancyplates.com . Usually use a standard font in black, but usually with an 'NI' euro band and usually put the manufacturer along the bottom (quite small so subtle). No postcode or anything but it more or less is road legal and they got through MOTs previously.
