I think I prefer my "pin" axle stands, because I would always imagine it would be easy for the little lever to be accidentally knocked, then its PHOOM BANG down comes the car!

i have got the lend of pin ones before but i think they must have been lorry ones because when i lifted the jeep up to get them in it was right and high.
Id just like a good jack as they are a bit more precise than lifting stuff all the time with a forklift.

You can get Rolson ones for £20 and Clarke Strong Arm ones for a couple of quid more from Machine Mart, I always thought Clarke stuff was alright - http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... jack-ctj2b .FarmerPug wrote:would 2 tonnes be enough?

I'd imagine 2 tons would be alright as half the car will still be supported by wheels

Re: Cheap bargain anyone.
but on a hydraulic jack you twist it for it to fall and they can drop quick enough, but a tree stump would do as good if not better than an axle stand
clarke, rolson, draper. all good brands i suppose. Im suprised they are only about £30 i thought hydraulic jacks were about £200
