Talking to a fellow 110 owner, you know how when you're driving uphill at about 1800rpm & it starts to strain a bit?

Wasn't in bed - was at work at 3:35am, pulling what's left of my hair out trying to fit 1097 cages onto 46 vehicles working around ridiculous delivery times!

In 1959: The residents of Wellingborough, England woke to find a trail of white footprints painted along the main street of their town. At the end of the trail were the words, "I must fly."

You only get 45 mpg from a 1.5 DCI? I'd stick with a bloody 2.0 110 HDI 406 if I had the choice..
PS: You lucky, lucky man for getting a ride in doggy's wondrous creation.

Looks like I'm up again next week. Heading up Sunday night & coming back Friday morning again. Handed the Scenic back yesterday (after a long day at Pontefract), so don't know what I'll be getting this time. Be interesting to see if whatever I get is better on fuel than the Scenic was though.

Thought I'd get a head start on everything so that I'm not spending my last day at home getting ready to go. Picked up the new car tonight. According to the insurance database it's a Hyundai i30 1.5CRDi (diesel again) Comfort. 6 speed again, but this time with normal clocks & a proper handbrake. Bit smaller than I'm used to, but it seems to pull away quite well & I like the little display on the dash that tells you when to change up or down a gear. Gives me something to rebel against!

It's one of life's amusing ironies that car designers continualy strive to outdo each other in a pointless search for cachet or chic, when in reality all they do is reinforce our conviction that we wouldn't swap our trusty steeds for these new-fangled fads-on-wheels if they paid us to.

Drive it like you stole it - it's not worth preserving.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
