I have spent around £500 on the Focus but I got it for free.
Yesterday there was a twangy diggerydoo type of noise from the back end. The standard exhaust is pretty throaty so thought it was the engine.
Then I was driving around down today and every time I went left there was a screech from the rear wheel.
Jacked up the rear end and there is about 2-3mm play in the back drivers side wheel and a grinding when you turn it. So wheel bearings gone?
I don't even know if it's safe enough to drive to the mechanics?
Should I just pack it with grease, take it easy and hope for the best or what?
Apparently the mechanic when he tried to do my brakes put about 6ton on the drum and it wouldn't remove so decided to wait he had a word with me before he destroyed the drums. So I can only assume the bearing is slightly nackered cause of this and just got worse and worse.

Also the electric windows packed up and I need two new front door looms

i think id prefer to have AIRBAG FAULT than a knackered wheel bearing.

Fixed the electric windows, turns out the loom had been chaffing on the door (my sound system??) and shorted out causing a burnt out wire.
Fixed the loom...

And then it started raining...

Then i went to out insulation tape stash

Then I taped the loom up...

This made work so much easier!

Back together...

And after I attached the foamy thing and taped up all the holes I made in the sound deadning...


And then I packed the rear bearing with fresh grease using my brute force method.
Cover the washer in LM grease like so...

Then tighten up the hub bolt so the grease gets pushed into the bearing, and then keep doing it until grease starts oozing out the side!

Still even after I packed the bearing with grease...


It's still pretty loud

I have to get one of them insulation tape stashes.

Its still quite loud (sounds like a washing machine) must be really bad on the road, can you get single bearings for your focus or are they sold in pairs?

I can get singles but my drum is stuck because theres such a bad lip on it, the drums going to have to be destroyed, just waiting for the mehcnic to phone me to tell me to drop it in.
I already got new shoes and a fitting kit but I'l have to get new drums and and bearings too.
Wish I knew in hindsight, I'd have fitted rear discs.

Done tried, the mechanic had 6tonne on the drums and they wouldn't move!

im not sure how well it would cope with drums but after seeing one work on my jeeps floor effortlessly and neatly cutting it, an acetaline torch that could perhaps cut your rear drums off.

ive seen them go round the clock,

Anycar needs wheel bearings once every few years, its not Just a ford thing,
Get a Mondeo and watch how quick it goes through springs and Rear calipers
Focus is a Reliable motor if you keep on top of them
