I run 50/50 engine oil and veg oil for a track day.
It smoked like a bastard (blue smoke too, everyone tried to tell me my car was broken), the car was much smoother, quieter and if you are doing track days it will minimise the damage as you are lubricating both sides of the piston...
BUT! It is illegal to use as road fuel! You get caught and you will be treated the same was as running red diesel!
Better off with veg oil (maybe with a splash of engine oil as an 'attitive' to keep the pump and injectors lubed up. Or just use two stroke like meee).

Why not?Gary406 wrote:ive had mine on 100% new veg oil

Engine oil has more lubricating propeties, engine oil combusts at a lower heat/compression, it made the engine smoother and causes less wear on components. If they could stop it burning blue it would be the perfect fuel!
Always used to chuck a litre in with my veg though to keep everything lubed up abit.

iwas talking to some local Gyp-0s (Pikeys ) afew month back igave them some Scrap metal.
they had there Transit running on TRansformer oil, iguess they been in the Sub-stations nicking the Wiring to get it but Ah well i was suprised to hear

It's the injection system that lets it all own.
The diesel engine was also designed to run on coal dust, the resulting explosion of the prototype almost killed Mr Diesel himself!

Mate, I think it's a stupid idea to be posting your illegal activities on a public forum. HMRC do read car forums, and have caught out people in the past.
All legal issues aside, I have tried this back before you had to pay duty on it (I think it was November 2008 the law changed). This was in my 405. It was a bastard to start, but once running I actually had more mid range torque than normal diesel. This makes sense as engine oil has a higher energy density than diesel. However there are many other problems, like fine metal particles in used engine oil and horrible contaminants it produces when burned due to all of the additives. Plus, if you are collecting it from a garage it's likely to contain lots of other nasties like highly corrosive brake fluid. All in all, even without paying duty, I can't see how it's better than WVO.
