Re: Dangerous Cycling
People ride bicycles because they're too stupid to learn to drive.

Re: Dangerous Cycling
We had something similar a few months ago when one of the Polish agency drivers from Exeter managed to wipe out a cyclist on a dual carriageway:

Re: Dangerous Cycling
I came across your comment earlier.
I was knocked down and seriously injured by a cyclist on the Lagan towpath in early May 2011. Unfortunately for me I did not get his details due to the pain I was experiencing though he did try to blame me! (He approached me from behind).
As far as I know he did not report the accident to the police (I did) though he phoned my partner later to ask how I was!
I passed this number to the police but so far they have been unable to talk to him.
Since then, I am fraid to be on the towpath on my own and it is a place I really liked and enjoyed up until the accident.

Re: Dangerous Cycling
Hi Roboclerk, and welcome!
Cyclists are an absolute menace on the lagan towpath. A beautiful walk along the river on a nice day, ruined by cyclists treating it as a tour de france stage.
Same with the walk along Hazelbank, a cyclist ran over the dogs paw here.
Saw a van driver get annoyed at one that went through a red light, near got himself ran over for the trouble

Re: Dangerous Cycling
Cyclists shouldnt be allowed on footpaths. Back in primary school i remember we actually had some course on riding a bike safely but riding on a footpath was one thing we were told not to do.
Re: Dangerous Cycling
ithink people that ride abike on the pavement but get off the bike when someones walking up the path are sensible,
the roads are not safe for bikers especialy kids,

Re: Dangerous Cycling
Get yourself a walking stick - shoving it through the front wheel spokes works a treat and it's a lot easier on the paintwork than the 'Disco Manoeuver'.
