Just a quick question really.
My interior heater motor has not worked since I brought my 52 plate 406HDI and have decided to actually have a look as to see why.
I am assuming this is a common problem and I am just after other people reports on their experiences.
Checks done so far:
I have checked the red wire from the ignition barrel and this is live with the engine running ( read this on google somewhere)
I have jumped the motor and have had it powered so I know the motor works.
I then tested the variable voltage power coming from the variable resister switch on the dash which is working as should.
I have checked their is power going to the heator resistor in the footwell. But when I check the output side of the resistor in the footwell I have no earth coming from it to the motor?
When I jumped and earth from the chassis to the earth on the output side of this heator resistor the motor fired into life but had no variable speed.
I am right in thinking that this heator resistor varies the amount of earth contact to vary the speed controll?
Any info thrown this way on personal experiences will be greatly received.
Just been on EBAY and seen the price of £45 for a new unit so want to be 100% certain it is this heater resistor that is at fault and there isn't another one tucked out the way somewhere lol
Regards
Ben

Sounds like the heater control module is faulty, it's located behind the centre console ....you don't need to remove the centre console to get to it.
Lots of info on this in the electrical section and via the search facility.
