Perhaps it's because Volvo drivers quite reasonably assume other motorists know where they're going?

OMG........MOT failure
Well i spent a full day checking under my baby, trying to find any loose bits & pieces. I changed a couple of tyres & replaced both front drop links as they were knocking slightly.
Took her to garage for test & that very nasty garage man has failed her on numerous things.....(TWAT)
I didnt realise that they will fail now for something as simple as a slightly split rubber. Anyway after another day on my back in the cold garage, 2x bottom ball joints, 2x track rod ends, 2x drop links & 1x CV boot she has passed.
I still love my old girl......shes beautifull.

Thought they were supposed to treat these as advisories for the first 3 months.
Maybe you could print a thank-you letter in your local paper, entitled 'Avoid these thievin barstewards', or similar?
Check with VOSA, call trading standards?

Spoke to traffic cop at work yesterday & aparently the new MOT changes are in force now..........he hasn't heard of MOT stations giving them as advisory for first 3 months. I think we are gonna struggle a bit with our older motas boys.

Changes are here now Loz......... My bottom ball joint failed simply because it had a tiny tiny split in the rubber, there was no play in the joint at all mate.

The new regulations came in 1st January, but until 1st April all new items are to be treated as advisories....FACT!!
A split ball joint rubber never has been a failable item and will not be a failable item until 1st April, unless there is excessive play in the ball joint.
I have just got back from my mot garage, whilst I was there I asked to see the new directives and saw that it is clearly 1st April when all the new regulations take effect, they have given 3 months to let everyone settle into the new situation.
I hope this clears things up.
