Engine oil - 307 hdi 90

I know some of the 406s share the same engines as the 306 n 307 2litre hdi 90. Just out of curiosity, what engine oil do you guys use? My handbook states 10w40, 5w30 or 5w40, n Peugeot now have stated that HQ have advised 5w40 from now on ECP states any lol n most parts places now say 5w40 fully synthetic. So Im a bit confused as I thought you could run 10w40 semi synthetic on these engines?

5w30 or 5w40 wouid be fine ithink,

i use 5w30 in hdi lumps, not had a problem yet,

there was atopic on this a week or so ago, might be worth a search & have a read

ithink why the manafactures recomend 2 differnt "W" oils is,

the lower the number the thinner the oil, So you just use the lowest Recomended one, for Winter use,
and then the Thickest Recomend one , for Summer use,
