Should I wait until next week?

Post by Bailes1992 »

The mechanic I used tried to sort out my off centre steering today.
He replaced the front track rods and sorted full wheel alignment but the steering couldn't be centered as the UJ in the steering column is bent.

He had the steering wheel off today and tonight the *Beeep* "Airbag Faut" came up on the MFD aswell as two airbag lights.

Should I give him a ring tommorow to get him to sort it asap or could it wait till next thursday when he replaces the UJ in the steering column?

I'm sure your insurance company would want you to get on to him asap...

Id ring him asap,

if it was ok before it went to his garage, get him to put it right .

ive never heard of a universal joint bending, the wear out with age, cause rattles and slopp in the steering,

when iworked as abreaker and worked in breakers yards, ive hit them with lump hammers to get them off the splines,
ive never seen one bend even with being brutal with them

You could bend a U-joint by skidding into a kerb at full-lock I suppose.

I''d speak to the garage, they might be able to bring forward the work and do it all together.

He's not a garage. He's self empoloyed and works out of a massive garage! Lovley it is too

The light didn't return today and I did lots of lock to lock, quick tight bends etc.

So I'l just mention it to him Thursday providing it doesn't reappear!

My Uncle has had the car since it was 6 months old, wouldn't supprise me if he did slide it into a kerb at full lock
