Theres nothing wrong with Vw engines,
as long as you look after them properly,

ive seen them Eat turbos, And run on there own oil,

alot of thats down to people just running them on just any oil, they need the correct grade of oil,

Autos need to be avoided, the auto box in them are crap , (Ag4 gearbox)

I stopped 'thinking' about 6 months ago, things are much better now :cheesy:

Erm, what about one of those VW Touran? things they look quite tidy and you'll be used to the mechanics of them.

I've had a tentative sniff around at the newer Golf 2.0TDi's but was put off by oil pump problems? although some say it only affects the Passats/Audi's with balancer shafts? there's been a lot of engines ran with no oil pressure until the owner stops to think what that horrid clattery sound might be

The 1.9TDi is the best as far as I know, and in 130bhp form.
Welly, you would be fine with the golf. It was the earlier models. Aftet 2008 VW now use common rail. Not bad when you think a pug had them in 1999.

Yes. I have had 30k of trouble free motoring. Vw have had a few safety campaigns. They dont use the word recall  .

Injectors replaced foc and fuel pump. Not that needed either.

i have 5 kids and have had a few 7 seaters.....my least favorite was the galaxy.....dunno wot is was but nearly all fords i have owned have had problems with de misting the windscreen. the best i had was a toyota previa 8 seater i took the whole family with one of their friends plus all our luggage on a weeks holiday to yarmouth without the need for a roof rack....the boot was massive for a 7 seater the only downside was you couldn't take the seats out but with the hieght you could fold the seats down and put summat large on top. of course the 2.4l petrol engine was a bit thirsty and the engine was under the front seats but it was fast and never let me down. never tried the import version the estima lucida which was a 2.2 diesel engine but you shouldn't get a 7 seater unless you really need one. i had a picasso MPV at one time and that was a fantastic all rounder for a family only 5 seater but the room was brill with the bonus of being able to take the back seats out.

i now have the 406 family estate and at the mo the kids fight to sit in the boot touch wood no probs with it (apart from the fecking handbrake but thats normal on a pug) nippy and comfortable and with the advantage of not being as heavy as most 7 seaters out there so i get better mileage on petrol.

Galaxys are not 100% ford mate, There seat/ford /vw (Heinz 57 build)

as of the windscreens, not demisting ive never seen one where the whole screen works its either the passenger side or drivers side that works,
the screens are total garbage,

ive been looking at the Delis (mitsabushi) very tempted but parts prices are a joke, :(

My perants have had erm... many many ford with the heated screen and the only issue to report was the second ST220 after a 'clout' with abit of wood, two lines wouldn't work.
