Realised just how much....

Post by Pilch »

Actuallly like the look of my D9 Estate...... Sad eh?

Finally got round to cleaning it yesterday and removing the mud and grime that gets acquired on these devonshire roads and even with various dings and dongs it looks sweet!

Dont understand why i like the look of it, but it this sunshine has made me see it in a different light!

Was amazed over christmas at how much better running a diesel is over petrol - 900 miles in a week on a tank of fuel! So much space and effortless to drive!

Just need to get some issues sorted - needs oil change and new injectors aswell as sorting out the rear windows that just dont want to open and ill be so much happier!

Nowt wrong wi' that, lad.

I'm still fond enough of mine to be thinking of having another one when I eventually part with this one.
Estates tend to look a bit less dated than saloons, for some reason, at least IMHO.

Why do you need new injectors?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I still think the estate looks modern, that's what I'd have if I got another 406.

The estate is purposeful, businesslike and pretty much classless which I like in a car 8)
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work

Yeah I much prefer the estate over my old D8 Saloon!

Injectors are a bit of a long story. Just before xmas there was a real bad misfire that was occuring - mechanic told me that it was a misfire and that one of the seals had gone and was piddling out diesel. So he changed the seal over but seemed to think that the injector could have an issue and it might be worth a change before he looks at other reasons why it could be doing it.

We ran some fuel cleaner through and it did seem to ease up, but now its back but not as bad as what it was, just shakes a bit when you idle.

He said big issue was a previous owner had fiddled with vacumn pipes and they dont run properly when installed the right way? and that also at some point the car might of ingressed some water as the air filter had a lot of water staining which could of possible done the con rod in.

He said to try the injectors first, then maybe look at other avenues......
