The Best place to set axle stands

Just out of interest where do you jack the car up from or rest axle stands on. With a fear of damaging the sills i always avoid going near them and put the jack on the subframe bolt at the top, or on the back one of the rear bars that go to the suspension. Then set axle stands on the subframe itself or the bar. Is this safe, it feels safe to be under but will it do any damage?

I usually jack just beside the jacking point and put the axle stand there as its a reinforced part of the sill.

iwouidnt use any jack other than the one provided with the car, on the sills,
not worth the risk,

using the trolley jack on them can make a mess,

I'll second that, mine were mullered! Had to straighten them out with a wooden drift & hammer!

I jack up on the fron subframe bush and the axle stands go under the subframe.

same here but would jacking near the bush cause any damage?
