Re: Interesting Project
The ad appears to be from December 2010 so I doubt it's still for sale.
It's also illegal, considering it's "still a 1.9d on log book"
so would you buy a car with some serious performance mods from a self-confessed criminal? I mean, what else has he skimped out on to save on money?
The handling would be interesting too, given the weight of the ES9J4/ES9J4S 3.0 V6 engine compared with the weight of the XU10J4RS 2.0 litre 16v four-cylinder engine in a 306 GTi-6 (which is where he says the suspension has come from), or even the 1.9TD XUD lump that was in that car originally.
AND he says he got 250 HP out of the V6 engine. Not bad modding, if you believe it. It's certainly possible to get that much out of these engines, but I'm guessing what he's done is stick an air filter and a farty exhaust backbox on it, and plucked a figure either out of Gran Turismo or out of his arse.
If done properly, that car would be a hoot - but the problem is, I don't believe he has done it properly. Personally, I wouldn't go near it.

Re: Interesting Project
In terms of weight, the XUD was a weighty big engine. The non turbo ZX certainly had to haul itself about with the big weight up front.
As far as mods go, it's not as amateurish as some I've seen which involve turning the diesel fuel screw, putting an argos bargain bin air filter on, drilling a hole in the exhaust, putting clamps on the springs and fitting alloys that rub the wheelarch liner.

Re: Interesting Project
Sounds like you spend time on http://www.barryboys.co.uk too
No, this guy does look like he's spent a fair amount of time and effort on modifying this car. However, the alarm bells inevitably ring when he publishes on the internet for the whole world to see that he is, in fact, a criminal.
