cabin fever

Post by scotty73 »

I'm not giving my will power high odds here i have to be honest.
For the last 6 years every October half term we've had a week away in the caravan followed by my mate and his lad, this year due to whats been going on we've not booked anything even though my mate booked a week off work for it back last December.

It's worked out quite well really as my two girls have 4 hours of rehearsing in school today and tomorrow but Wednesday on we're free I've finished putting the new kitchen in so i have no excuse to stay home so the question is do i get the caravan out ready to sod off on Wednesday?

Options are.
A: sit here doing the same old boring crap.
Or.
B: book in somewhere within walking distance of a pub with a nice log burner to warm us up.

My will power doesn't stand a chance does it. :supafrisk:

Yes the Welsh do it that way don't they? In Cornwall it's free to get in and you pay to get out. :?

I'm not sure how true this is but a wise Yorksireman once told me that when the bridge was being built us Welsh wouldn't pay towards it so Somerset (i think) funded it and have charged ever since... Maybe true i dunno. :?

Sorry i came in posted that and have only now got back to the pc but this will make some good reading.

we went on Wednesday just after 1pm thinking we'd miss any traffic on the M4, well the traffic was fine apart from the twats doing 90mph in the outside lane in the pissing down rain causing mist i had 4 wing mirrors and couldn't see a thing out of any of them  ... Got off the M4 and it was 406 hatred territory.... puddles i hit one without seeing it and crapped myself but luckily it didn't bother the 406...Had a few hairy moments but finally arrived, set the caravan up it started raining again so i said fook the awning lets go to the pub.

It rained through the night but 8am Thursday it was glorious so i decided while everyone was sleeping to erect the awning because everything was in the car including the dog cage and the dog had made the boot a right stinking mess  .... Awning sorted, brekkie cooked time for a walk down the beach then ended up in the pub it's thirsty work i tell you :supafrisk: .... Ordered my pint it belts down again for about 3 hours then the wind started must have been upto 80mph right through the night = hardly any sleep and battoning down the hatches a few times in me undies

Friday was glorious after the frost and fog we had blazing sun followed by wind then snow and hailstones that would make poor plod cringe :( .... Weather wise it was a real mixed bag but this is Wales after all... Saturday morning it was glorious yet again after a good downpour so i decided to go for a spin to the local beaches... 1 mile from the first beach after a few puddles gingerly navigated was a puddle i decided was not worth the risk so turned the car and headed for another beach... hmmm this beach had a puddle in the way that i would have needed scuber gear to get through so a quick 10 point turn and on to the next beach and thankfully all the water there was the other side of the sand.

Today started great, i already decided that the car wouldn't move the van with the ground being so soft so we packed up then went down the reception to ask for the tractor to move us... Well there's a fooking good job i got a big strap in the car because he had to tow me off to dry land aswell

And to top it off my sat nav played silly fukas all the way home.... After all that do i sound demented when i say i had fun?

It's a change isn't it? And it's better than sitting at home staring at the jobs that need doing.
That and nothing to disasterish happened.
