Was it a difficult job to programme the keys? As for the smell of diesel i get a whif of diesel when i walk past my car after a run and i've traced it to a slight weep from the top of the filter housing.

No, it's easy if you can remember where look - (it's under 'Replacement Parts'), the screen prompts you through the process of turning the ignition on / off / swapping keys and repeating the sequence, (seems you can have up to 5 keys). Once that's all done it reminds you how to sync the HF buttons. Pretty painless.

Thanks for the filter bowl suggestion, I'll check that out and maybe even splash out on a fuel filter. Is yours a Mahle filter bowl too?

Well, here's the fuel leak......



Looks like it's seeping past the seal under the lid, (thought it was the shiny bit on the top q/r connector, but that's just been rubbing on the acoustic hood). Guess I'll try swapping the filter first.

A look in the boot reveals a 'brand new' 8 year old Michelin 205/60/15 91V on a virgin steel wheel, two different locking bolt keys, everything else it should have, but no steel wheel bolts.

I have managed to get the locking bolt out of suspect #1, nsf wheel, but I'm not overly keen on ever putting it back in. Orf to the scrappy methinks to see if I can get some steely bolts and maybe even 4 alloy ones, failing that I'll buy some.

It's -4 and thinking about snowing at the mo....... where did I put my enthusiasm?

Good news! Had I taken the spare wheel out of the boot & turned it over, then read the pretty little yellow labels on the outside, I would have discovered that it uses the same bolts as the alloys.

It seems that at some point in the 116 days between the birth of the original dogmobile and this beast, those splendid chaps at Peugeot decided to apply some common sense.....

Better yet, the vibration has gone!

Wheel bearing seems fine but the track rod end is definitely knackered, so I surmise this allowed the wheel to 'shimmy' at little and wear unevenly, eventually leading to this problem. The tyre, a Michelin Energy, dating from mid-2008, is barely leagal anyway, so no great loss.

One or more of my Khumo's went out of shape on the front, was a right git to find and only really confirmed by the fitting of these 'ere Winters.....smoothness and my sanity returned instantly. Funnily enough I had an issue with an inner track rod so this may have worn a tyre in a strange pattern.

It's the exact same place that mine has the leak,i first noticed it back in August when we were on holiday in Cornwall and i was loathed to try and tighten it up there just in case i made it worse and it's still on the little jobs to do list,i was going to try and source a good used filter housing and change the lot as the locking ring on mine is a bit butchered.
