Re: what fuel does everyone use..
Interesting: I've always used either Tesco (for the clubcard points) or Esso, with a very rare Asda thrown in. This is simply driven by a mixture of price and convenience, I experimented with a few "premium" fuels when I was running the 406 but nothing seemed to have a noticeable affect on performance or economy, so I went back to the cheap stuff. I haven't experimented with diesels yet though, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Re: what fuel does everyone use..
ive done a experiment. sort of,
.sainsburys, (good)
.asda (better than tescos )
.tesco (ok -ish ) the tesco points are handy, but do they always add them on, Ifind that they dont,
Morrisons, (crap/avoid)

I only ever use Tesco or Sainsbury, never bothered with the dearer stuff that Shell & BP by me sell, never noticed any difference with it in the past.

Re: what fuel does everyone use..
The premium diesels (V-power / Ultimate etc) take a while before you notice any benefits asd the engine has to recalibrate itself for the better fuel.
Run it for a few weeks/months and then go back to cheap supermarket diesel and you will notice a huge difference!

I use Morrisons most of the time in my hdi 110,remapped.There is an asda across the road so they are both the cheapest around, but you get no rewards with asda.Getting around 45-51 mpg from bristol to the somerset coast for work, down the m5 and some A & B roads.
I once had a new Rover 200 td in 1999.I used to find it ran better on Shell diesel than the supermarket fuel. But these days when i`m spending £60-£90 a week on fuel, the 3-5p per litre more in price for the local Esso & Texaco garage doesent make it worth it.

Mine runs better on Shell than it does on Esso. Better mileage, better power. Haven't tried Shell V-Power in it yet, on account of it costing too much money

Re: what fuel does everyone use..
I did extensive tests on my last few petrols and satisfied myself that there was a real, measurable increase in mpg, which strangley enough exactly mirrored the real, measurable increase in price.

Re: what fuel does everyone use..
out of the supermarket fuels does sainsburys seem best & morrissons seem to be the worst? apparently the hdi engine can run on upto 30% bio, the only pump that ive seen with the bio % on was morrissons but how much is there in the bigger brand stuff? it could be a contribution to why the morrissons stuff seems to be not so good, i put £40 of jet diesel in today [not the rocket fuel type] & il see how it performs then post back. i dont use the higher priced stuff unless im really desperate, cheers.
