Taking my van off me!

Post by grasmere59 »

I have a works 09 Pug Boxer which i've had since new and done 94k in her,it went in for a service and the main Pug dealer says it needs £1500 spending on her and the lease company won't spend the money on it and have "condemned" it!! .As the company i work for has recently been bought out by BT i have been earmarked to have a 58 plate ex Openreach Transit (flashing light an all!),all BT vans have trackers in them and are limited to 70 mph,not a happy bunny. :(

Alot of companys now are putting trackers in there Vans /vehicles,

Iwas a white van driver, Mainly railway related,
Most days you had 1 or 2 hours where you did feck all but sit around, so iused to take the deck chair with me and catch up with a few zzzs somewhere quiet
Bastids knew where the van was so igot rumbled,

my mate got sacked for doing a removal with his works van, :supafrisk:

What pee's me off is that i have private use of the Boxer (i pay the extra tax),it was dead handy on friday when the 406 let me down cos i used the van but they'll be able to see what i do with the van in my own time now :(,perhaps if i keep it on the 70mph limiter in 3rd it'll go pop and they can have it back tracker n all :cheesy:

Will you still get personal mileage?
Surley it dosen't matter about the tracker. If you got personal mileage then they can't say anything?

Just rang my mate and it's waiting for me in the yard for tomorrow morning so i'll have to clear out the 3 1/2 years of junk i've managed to put in the Boxer, another pisser is that i have an allstar fuel card at the moment so i go to BP or Sainsburys to get my nectar points which gives me £70 odd to use at xmas but BT uses keyfuels which are tied to Murco or some other crap fuel stations. :(

They say nothing will change at the moment with personal mileage but no BT employees get it so i'm sure it'll go soon,i just don't like the idea of "big brother" watching me in my private time, going to Bridgend for example :)

A 70mph speed limiter? That's grotesque - I thought that no-one was going to do that because of the safety implications (driving out of trouble etc.) I'm glad they brought that in after my time anyway, I'd have never got everything done :frown: The tracker is new to me too, although in the last few years they made it pretty clear that we were in sheep dip if they caught us with the van somewhere we weren't meant to be, so I only ever used it to go shopping if it was somewhere I was passing anyway.

Ah well, it should have air con now anyway (it was my bro that done that  )

I see lots of vans with "This vehicle is limited to...." signs on the back. Sometimes its 60 or something, always think thats a bit mean.

One of our work vans has a limier, 95mph, so not really a problem, especially with us being a double glazing factory, you can hardly go hooning about with a van full of glass!

I tried driving the Boxer to Derbyshire at 70 on friday,it's fine when it's a clear road but when your on the inside lane of the motorway and closing on something doing 60-65 and you look in the mirror and theres a line of traffic closing fast in the middle lane you have to make your move or get trapped in the inside,so i indicated put my foot down went up to 80 cleared the slow car and pulled back in to inside,no dramas but if i was limited to 70 i would have had to stay put and get stuck in the inside lane or hold up the traffic in the middle lane,i think it's just dangerous being limited to 70.I did hear that in future the new BT vans will be limited to 60! Carbon emissions my arse!
