 I thought this would be the reaction, i don't drink a lot but the fact that i drink a little every day means you can't just STOP so i asked for help.

I went in due to the bleed and after an ultrasound was told i had an enlarged splein (sp) due to not having my bowels open often enough, yesterday the doc gave me the all clear and said well done on asking for the detox most people refuse it and go straight back on the piss.

I was told of a local woman that does a 12 week after hospital counciling session while there so i asked to see her aswell and I've seen her twice now and she's very helpful and not just on the drinking side of it she's even offered to deal with the dwp for me.... I feel very positive now i just need to get rid of this horrible back injury i suffered while having the seizure and I'm raring to go. :cheesy:

I'm going to try my hardest matey that's for sure, there is indeed a lesson to be learned here even if you only drink say 2 pints a night every night if for any reason like hospitalisation you have to stop you run the risk of withdrawal which can lead to seizures and illucinations neither of which are nice so if you do this be honest and tell the doctor/nurse that treats you the truth.

I was on a mixed ward the room i was in there were 4 of us two old guys one with throat cancer the other heart problems myself and a 33 year old yellow lad who had stopped drinking for 12 months then hit the vodka HARD his liver is almost f*cked it's littered with holes and if he doesn't have some stents replaced his other organs will shut down soon.... twice while i was in he refused to have the work done so they had to cancel the procedure i don't know where he will go from there but my guess is the room next to where the procedure would take place. THE MORTGUE.

This big dopey guy came to talk to us over the weekend from the next room and i asked him what he drinks and he said white lightning 3ltr bottles he drinks it for 7 days then has 7 days off and his hobby is to save the bottle tops... he told me how many he saved in 7 days and i worked out in that week he had drank 200 pints of white lightning

I said what you gonna do when you get out of here? he replied (go on another 7 day bender)

yea i know what you mean alcohol doesnt care, young or old.I do know abit more than some on this subject as my mother is an alcoholic and has been for about 40 years. A few years back she started drinking herself into oblivion (no food at all, just whiskey) and my wife went round to check on her and she was in a stupor yet again but this time she had passed out leaning against a storage heater (think big hot radiator),been there for a few hours we think and she was basically cooking on it, took her to hospital and they said "we cant stop here drinking as it'll kill her" so we had to take her whiskey into the hospital for her, weird or what.
anyhow about 10 years on and she still drinks, but keeps it to moderate 'for her' basically she has a bottle of lambrini  a day and whatever she can use her scooter to get on an evening, my sister thinks she only has the lambrini, i'm not so gullible.
Oh and she was smoking at least 80 a day as well, and guess what she's been diagnosed with a growth on her lung  no sh*t it dont need sherlock to work that one out

Here's another reason not to drink kids.

Just been to the dentist and explained that my seizures have caused my front 4 teeth to chip then crumble and decay over time and I'm now scheduled to have all 4 extracted and get fitted for dentures at a luvly cost of £177
