Mux or Not Mux, please dont shout

Post by climbersuk »

Hello all.

I am looking at putting a Sony stereo that I had in my land rover into my peugeot. However, am a bit confused.
I have seen this talk about mux or not mux etc etc (did a search and got confused). So I am not sure what I am doing. I want to keep the functionality of the stalk controller and also the funky part of the display on the dash. But I am not sure what cables I need as I dont know if I have a mux car or not. From looking it looks like 2001 was the changeover time for this, and guess what.......... my car is a 2001.
It is a 2 litre hdi (90) estate.

Any advice would be great thanks. :)

Cheers

Stuart

2001 is mux, mux and nothing but mux. Before the July they have some mux, after the July they have more mux. I'm not sure how much it affects the stereo, you might want your build code for that. Or you might not, I've never investigated as I have little access to that sort of stuff here.

2001 sure must have been a bumper harvest for 406s :?

Hi

Thanks, so (sorry for dumb questions, and also have no realised this should maybe have been in the ICE section..... doh!!!!), I would need the following to put my Sony Stereo in?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-406-S ... 3a6675ea9f

AND

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Connects2-Son ... 4842c5da67

OR

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-406-C ... 4d03f6e40f

Cheers for your help

**** EDIT!!!!**** I have left the Connects 2 thing in this post just in case, but I dont think it will fit my car, looks like I will just have to lose the display readout on the dash for the stereo, no great shakes, can use the readout on the radio

Stalk Adaptor Compatible with the following Vehicles:

Peugeot 406 : 1999 to 2001
Looks like you're going to have to know if your car is semi or full-mux. Do you have com2000?

Aint got a clue (ask me about land rovers and I am fine, but fairly new to these cars!!!!!

Just been looking at some threads to try and figure out, stumbled across the below post........ look familiar hahaha. Looking at the picture, your picture looks like mine (not sure if it is the top one or the bottom one though, as I cant see the wirse), but your link to ebay does not look like mine. Is that right? Does that mean I have this here com2000, what does that mean..... maybe i should give up and go home hahahaha

Your car is full-mux then. It's good to know as it makes quite a lot of difference on the electrical side of things. Oh, and that stalk adaptor is no use to you :( The connects 2 might be but as I said I'm not sure on this stuff, ask me about lawnmowers...
