Just filled up with the Esso Supreme (is it?) 97 RON stuff, no BP or Shell garages within easy access, hoping to improve my economy a bit , cos it went down when the car was sick. No difference at all to the performance (so far anyway!) and the economy still isn't back where it was before the problems

I would recommened shell diesel extra. It the same price as diesel everywhere. But with added cleaners and fuel boosts etc... Makes a slight difference in performance and increased my economy.

Dai, the reason your getting shite economy is because your egr valve was stuck open, and i bet your inlet manifold, valves and piston crowns are full of shite, chuck 2 bottles of forte injector cleaner in your tank and blast it down the motorway in 3rd gear at 80mph for about 30 or so miles, that should clear all the crap out

I can vouch for forte fuel treatment. I used to use it on my 2.1 diesel. Outstanding results. I used it to stop it smoking (40 bensons it would tkae a day), but it also dramatically helped performance, economy and made the car smoother.

Not cheap mind, £18 in peugeot for a bottle (I used to use more than half the bottle), but you can sometimes find it cheaper on ebay.
