Doesn't sound too much? Bear in mind your battery voltage will be somewhere in the region of 7-8 Volts when delivering 600A. now it's not so insignificant.
Got the books at home, but from what I can tell the starter relay is actually 40-50A, which makes the drop considerably less... However, it's at the end of a hierarchy of fuseboxes using increasingly narrower gauge wire... Bugger it I'll call my brother and do some "stand next to this yardstick and stick these on your tongue" voltage measurement tests...
